We never think a crime will happen to us, until it does. The NRA Refuse To Be A Victim ® program is not a firearm or self-defense class. It is a seminar to help you develop or improve personal safety strategies and provide valuable information you can apply in every area of your life.

Emergency First Aid Fundamentals

Beyond performing CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, would you know how to save a life before paramedics arrive? From learning how to assess a patient’s condition to delving into the proper treatment of chest and spinal injuries, broken bones, shock, serious bleeding, and more, this course will teach participants how to respond when minutes might mean the difference between life and death.

Real Estate Agent Safety

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) conducts an annual safety survey with its 1.4 million members. The 2020 member safety report showed that 23% of members experienced a situation that made them fear for their personal safety or the safety of personal data. This course provides valuable information on situational awareness, threat assessment and management, and a wide range of self-defense tactics and tools.

Marksmanship Simplified

Between January 2019 and April 2021, there were a record 7.5 million firearm purchases by first-time gun owners, predominately for self-defense purposes. An increase in property theft and violent crime is fueling new gun purchases, with approximately 50% of new owners seeking basic firearms training. This course is specifically designed to give new gun owners the basics of safe and effective firearms handling, storage, and effective use without the pressure and fast pace of most self-defense shooting courses.

Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense

Women are one of the fastest-growing segments of gun owners driven by the need for self-defense and growth in competitive shooting. This course was designed by women, for women, and covers all skill levels — whether students are seeking to begin, improve upon, or add to their firearms know-how. Students will learn about handgun safety and firearm fundamentals. Course topics include: situational awareness, common types of handguns, ammunition types, firearms handling skills, marksmanship skills, and defensive pistol fundamentals.

Concealed Carry & Home Defense

This course provides participants with important information related to: home security, concealed carry, firearms safety and marksmanship, conflict avoidance and situational awareness, the physiology of violent encounters, non-lethal defense options, and legal aspects of using deadly force.

Benefits

Participants will learn the basics of firearm ownership and safety, as well as marksmanship and how it applies to armed self-defense. It will meet the requirements (classroom and live fire) to obtain a CCW permit* and will further prepare them to defend themselves and their loved ones, no matter where they are.

Countering the Mass Shooter Threat

This course will analyze the data compiled from mass shootings and teach participants how to recognize that a person may be planning a mass shooting, how to respond during a mass shooting incident, and how to minimize and manage casualties that can occur during mass shooting event.

Benefits

Participants will come away with greater knowledge about mass shootings and confidence in their abilities to respond in the event of an active shooter. Besides learning what to do when faced with a mass shooter, they will learn how to implement an emergency operations plan and what the special security considerations are for schools, churches and businesses.
